United People’s Freedom Alliance Secures 224 Of the 266 Local Bodies

UPFA won 09 Municipal Councils, 17 Urban Councils, and 198 Pradeshiya Sabhas.
The United National Party secured 03 Municipal Councils, 15 Urban Councils and 16 Pradeshiya Sabha’s for a Total Of 34 Local Bodies.

UPFA won 8 municipal councils, 17 urban councils and 187 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

UNP won 3 municipal councils, 13 urban councils and 13 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

ITAK won 1 urban council and 4 Pradeshiya Sabhas.
JVP won 1 Pradeshiya Sabha.

UPFA Heading for Landslide Victory at Local Polls

(UPDATE) UPFA is heading for a landslide victory in local council elections where JVP and JHU appeared to have been trounced.
Official results showed that President Mahinda Rajapakse’s People’s Alliance had won over 150 councils declared so far. UPFA could end up with more than 200 councils.

UPFA Heading for Victory at Local Polls

The results so far showed an increase in the UPFA vote base and a sharp reduction in those of the UNP, JVP and JHU.
While results are expected to come in throughout the day as counting is completed for each local body, the final results are expected to be announced later today.
